MARK GOLDMAN – FOUNDING PARTNER

Mark is the founding partner of MJ Goldman having set up the practice in March 2007. He qualified with the ICAEW in September 2000 at a top 20 firm and quickly gained lots of experience whilst working as an audit manager, assistant to the senior partner, and corporate tax specialist. Mark then went into industry and became the Financial Director of an internet advertising agency. Having helped take the company to the position of the largest independent specialist in their field with revenue in excess of £5m, Mark embarked on setting up and building MJ Goldman. The business moved into its offices in Oldham in May 2008, and has grown very quickly with over 90% of new business coming from personal recommendation.

Mark has a wealth of experience in helping owner managed businesses across a variety of sectors, especially property, pharmaceutical and online organisations. He also sits on the board of various companies and takes a hands-on approach to assist his clients in all areas of their business.

Mark also has extensive experience across the taxation system and has detailed knowledge of the tax issues that affect owner managed businesses.

BARRY NYMAN – PARTNER

Barry joined MJ Goldman as a partner in 2009. He has a vast wealth of financial and commercial expertise following 14 years of experience in both practice (where he qualified) and in industry where he was Group Financial Controller for a privately owned large UK manufacturer and for an AIM floated Financial Services Business.

Barry has also grown his own portfolio of private clients over the years (predominantly owner managed businesses operating in the retail, manufacturing and e-commerce sectors).

Barry advises on a wide range of Business, Tax and Accounting matters, and has considerable expertise working with entrepreneurial owner managed businesses.

Barry is married with two children and a lifelong supporter of Manchester City Football Club. He also claims to be able to answer any question relating to the film series, Star Wars.

RICHARD HUNTER – PARTNER

Richard joined MJ Goldman in 2013, bringing with him 13 years experience dealing closely with owner managed businesses and high net worth individuals.

After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2004 at a well respected top 50 practice in London, Richard moved to Manchester, and has subsequently worked at both a top 6 national firm and most recently a smaller rapidly expanding boutique practice within the city. This has provided him with broad experience from listed PLCs to small owner managed businesses, in sectors as diverse as defence to the music industry.

As a true general practitioner Richard has extensive knowledge and experience in accountancy, tax, corporate finance and business advisory services. He believes in providing his clients with a holistic approach across all aspects of their businesses. This allows him to develop a better understanding of the issues his clients face, thus allowing him to identify opportunities to add value and advise of potential improvements in their financial position, whilst also ensuring that all compliance issues are dealt with promptly and within statutory deadlines.

Outside of work, Richard is a member of Wilmslow Round Table. He has a keen interest in motorsport, and follows Leeds United.
